Shrimpelicious

This is one of my favourite self-created appetizers and the great thing about it, is that it so simple to make. Believe me it's the perfect snack to serve; if you have guests, want to add a 'WOW'-factor to your party or if you maybe have something to make up for.

Ingredients for 8 pieces;

- 8 Shrimps without a peel
- 6 Tablespoons of Ketjap Manis
- 4 Tablespoons of Dark Soy Sauce
- 2 Tablespoons of Sweet Chilli Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon of Caramel Sauce or some Honey
- 1 Lime
- Additional; 1 Teaspoon of sesame oil and a bunch of sesame seeds

Mix the Ketjap Manis, Dark Soy Sauce, the Sweet Chilli, the Caramel Sauce/Honey and the additional Sesame oil/Sesame seeds. Roll the lime between your hand palm and another hard surface such as a cutting board, so that you can feel it’s getting a bit softer. Subtly rasp the lime peel and add it to your mixture. Cut the lime into quarters and squeeze out all the juice into your blend. You will probably notice that you will get more juice from your lime then you normally do, this is thanks to the rolling movement you made in the beginning. Taste whether or not you like the mixture … is it sweet enough?

Now poor the mixture over you shrimps and let it rest for a bit. Of course the longer the better, but if you let it marinate for a longer time, don’t forget to place your shrimps in the refrigerator ;)! You can also choose to serve them warm, in that case boil the sauce till it gets sticky like fudge and then add the shrimps for another minute. Now you’re ready to serve your appetizer!
