La Vie Fleurit On Tour | A trip to Paris with Calor

Aaahhh Paris mon amour ! You are always there to cheer me up! And even better I love to visit you when I get an unexpected invite to visit a press launch! Yessss my friends you read it right! I was invited to go on my very first press trip abroad! I had the pleasure being asked to come and join a press event by Calor. Calor is renowned for their flatirons, their hair styling machines, but I especially know them for their epilators. Over the last few years the brand, has launched a couple of new machines, but I must admit that the Aquaperfect Soft Spa Edition, is the icing on the cake. More on the epilator itself this week, but today I’ll tell you something about my trip itself.

My day started bright and early in the morning … Very early … To be precise; 06:00! However since Calor asked me how late I wanted to leave to Paris, I thought ‘Hey why not turn it into a full 2-day experience!’ So therefore I jumped into the Thalys in Antwerp around 07:30. Normally I was supposed to be accompanied by fellow blogster Yentl Keuppens from the blog Bubble Trouble and we had planned to have a fabulous day, however after numerous send messages, I got this said text saying; ‘Dear Fleur unfortunately I won’t be able to join you on our trip, while I was hospitalized with food poisoning!’ … WHAAATTTTT!?!? Poor Yentl! Nevertheless I was set on turning this journey into an unforgettable voyage and so I did!

After dropping off my suitcase at my hotel, I was ready to go! The hotel was located at a 10-minute-walk from the Musée du Louvre and so it had the perfect position! To kick-off I visited some cool Parisian shops, like the Maison Margiela boutique and I continued my trip towards the direction of the Musée des arts décoratifs de Paris. I’ve never before had the opportunity to visit this museum and I was stoked to do so, while I heard they had a huge collection of vintage 60’s design furniture. When I arrived, I noticed that there were currently being held two expositions. One about ‘Fornasetti’, a brand which I have loved for over many years now and the second about ‘Buttons’, which also caught my interest, because of my diploma in International Fashion Management. I started off by visiting the last one and when I entered the room, my hart stopped for a second … In the vitrines were displayed these BEAUTIFULL 18th century embroided silk men’s ‘habbits’, which I had been gazing at in my fashion books ever since I was young. That’s right the exact same ones! I know that it won’t move the most of you like it did me, but you must imagine my joy … You’ve been starring at these pictures for over 10 years, gazing full of admiration and then suddenly you get the opportunity to see those items in real life! The complete expo was a joy and it also displayed a wide range of vintage Dior, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Balmain, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Elsa Schiaparelli couture. I continued my visit through the museum, which houses a fantastic collection of all kinds of magnificent treasures and ended with the Fornasetti exposition, which was a sight for sore eyes as well!

The museum was so impressive and massive that it took all of my afternoon and then it was time to go to Aterlier Mood, where the Calor press launch of the Aquaperfect Soft would take place. They invited bloggers from all over the world and they welcomed us with open arms. After the presentation we were invited to follow a yoga lesson in their pool and I had to laugh with some fellow French bloggers throughout the complete session. You know once someone starts you simply just can’t stop it … And why would we, while we had a fantastic time! As a finishing touch we were treated with several delicious French patisseries and I was interviewed by Calor, on which I tell you guys more as soon as they launch the video!

Afterwards I had a lovely dinner with another Belgian blogger, Valerie and Caroline, the press attaché for Calor Belgium and it was time for bed.
