La Vie Fleurit on Tour | Crete - Hotel the Island

As promised today I’ll tell you guys a bit more about the hotel, ‘The Island’ I stayed in during my trip to Crete! Let me start by saying that ‘The Island’ is the perfect get away, when you want to go on a quit relaxation holiday. Many of the hotel’s guests don’t even leave the hotel and are just content with staying there the complete week. Which would have been extremely soothing for me as well … but… On the other hand that’s also a pity, for I’m always the ultimate explorer and so there weren’t many people to talk to, when it came down to receiving some nice hotspot tips. However like I said I’m an extreme voyager and I wasn’t afraid that my wanderlust wouldn’t kick in, when I needed it the most! So I decided to spend my first day in the hotel, because it was about time I did some long time overdue relaxing!

The Island has probably everything you can imagine a good 5 * hotel would have; Multiple swimming pools, divine hammocks (one of my best friends throughout the complete vaca :P), cool lounge beds, a grand Jacuzzi, daily activities like yoga, a tennis court, a bar with live music every night (where I discovered a talented singer-guitarist duo called, the Frida Antonis Duet), a library, beautiful garden features, a beach on the sea, a spa, an impressive buffet, but most of all fantastic staff! I even got the chef to give me his recipes for this special Cretan cake called, Karidopita! If there would be something I had to criticize, it’s the fact, that although Gouves is only a 15 minute drive by car to Heraklion, the public transportation to the island’s capital takes you about 1:15 hours! But in overall I had a true blast at this place and to be honest I spend even more time there than I had originally planned. Ow and before I forget to mention it … The hotel is a child-free zone! They only allow guests over 16, which means; no crying kids and a well-rested you when you go back home! Later this week more on my road trip, so if you enjoy my travel stories be sure to let me know!
