Bonjours mes amis! Today I wanted to share my top 3 when it comes to beautiful Parisian green get-aways in the middle of the city centre of Rive Droit. Whether you planned a shopping spree and you need a five minute break, you just want to enjoy the wonders of Paris with a-take-away coffee or you want to feel what Parisian living feels like and you decide to relax for several hours … It really doesn’t matter … these 3 green places will give you all of those possibilities.

1. Les Tuileries
Probably one of Paris’ most famous parks in the middle of the vibration hart of 'Le 1er arrondissement'. Originally this lovely park used to be the gardens of the former Palais des Tuileries, which was build by the famous Catherina de Medici, but which was unfortunately ruined by a fire in 1871. This green basically connects Rue Rivoli with the Seine and vice versa Musée du Louvre with Place de la Concorde. So many people visit all these famous museums surrounding Les Tuileries, but most fail to visit this wonderful sanctuary. The lay out was ordered by de Medici in a Renaissance style, full of statues and fountains and it received it’s geometrical lanes by the famous garden architect André Le Nôtre, who also designed the gardens of Versailles amongst others (by the way there’s a wonderful romantic movie about him, called ‘A Little Chaos’ featuring Matthias Schoenaerts and Kate Winslet). Although the part nearest to Le Louvre is sometimes crowded with tourists, you will always find some quite places if you take some side lanes and therefore I just love to take a small coffee break here if I’m tired after visiting an exposition. (Tip; Check out my post about Musée des arts Decoratifs, here).

2. Jardin du Palais Royal
Famous because of the magical architecture surrounding the park, the expensive shops which now sell their products there and the beautiful rows of straight lime trees, parading through the gardens. Moreover it’s also the location of one of the best coffee shops in the world. Café Kitsume makes the best Cappuccino, I have ever tasted (ssssttt let’s keep it a secret). The garden belonged to the Palais Royal, which was built by the famous Cardinal Richelieu. I love to come here too temporally feel like being part of an elite class … You see this is the place where all the ministers go take their lunch, where you see rich Parisian ladies sip on glasses of Champaign or where you buy yourself an exclusive perfume in one of the surrounding shops!

3. Place de Vosges
Now this park might not be as pretty or as grand as for eg. Les Tuileries, some might even argue if it’s even a park, but I feel like everyone visiting Paris should definitely take a little glance at this place! It’s the oldest square of Paris in the centre of the creative neighbourhood Le Marais. Especially the wonderful history surrounding it, is worth visiting Place de Vosges. Famous people like Victor Hugo, Dominque Strauss-Kahn and Madame de Sévigné used to live here. Neighbouring the greens are 39 exactly alike monumental buildings, with wonderful arcades to stroll under on a rainy day. Many famous art galleries, antique shops and hotels are located here and so I feel everyone should once visit Places de Vosges in their lives!

Up next are some travelposts on leisure in Thailand, some travel photography on my trip to Paris and I'm planning a trip to Copenhagen and/or Stockholm. Hopefully next time I visit Paris I’ll be able to share my favourite green get-aways on the Rive Gauche! Moreover I wanted to give special thanks to Thailand Tourism for inviting me to come to Paris for their presentation!
